TOWNVIEW CENTER MAKES NO.1 ON THE LIST, AGAIN! NOT BOOKER T.

I REPEAT, TOWNVIEW CENTER MAKES NO.1 ON THE LIST, AGAIN! NOT BOOKER T.

Townview Center students make it happen for Dallas ISD to remain at the top. Pretty clever. According to reports, Exactly one month ago we got a look at longtime Washington Post education columnist Jay Mathews' list of the best public high schools in the country -- the same list that used to run in Newsweek. The School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center came in first on Mathews's list; the School for the Talented and Gifted at Townview, second. But, as usual, Friends of Unfair Park took issue with the awfully simple and not entirely revelatory method Mathews uses to rank the schools -- by dividing "the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or other college-level tests a school gave in 2010 by the number of graduating seniors."

And so Newsweek, which has just published its own America's Best High Schools list, ditched the longtime formula and instead rounded up a small "group of experts" to help with the tallyin', among them a Highland Park High School graduate -- Wendy Kopp, founder and CEO of Teach For America. Writes the newsweekly:
Our new criteria have six components: graduation rate (25%), college matriculation rate (25%), and AP tests taken per graduate (25%), plus average SAT/ACT scores (10%), average AP/IB scores (10%), and AP courses offered per graduate (5%).

In all, more than 1,100 of America's top public high schools supplied internal data, and Newsweek culled from there. That brings us back to Dallas's top-rated School of Science and Engineering, which is familiar with accolades (it has landed among the top-five high schools on Newsweek's list since 2006) and the challenges most schools face. Some 62% of its students qualify for subsidized lunch, and the Texas legislature seems poised to subtract $164 million from the district's budget in the next two years.
Yup: School of Science and Engineering is still No. 1, and the TAG magnet's still No. 2. And the School of Business and Management at Townview, which was No. 67 on the Post's list, is at 65 on Newsweek's. The Judge Barefoot Sanders Magnet Center For Public Service, 64 by Mathews's count, plunges using Newsweek's criteria -- down to 135; so too the School of Health Professions, from 68 to 261. But the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts doesn't change too terribly much -- from 141 to 150. And the Cosmos Foundation-operated Harmony Science Academy goes from 159 to 165. And I see Kopp's old school does well for itself: No. 31.

BREAKING NEWS! - Michigan 16yr. Teen Hope To Survive 2nd Plane Crash

BREAKING NEWS! - Michigan 16yr. Teen Hope To Survive 2nd Plane Crash
When I found out about this story I had to share with you the people with real problems and with real issues are survivors! From my own WORDS! "Survival that makes us the fittest."

According to reports from Tribune News, An Indiana high school basketball standout who survived a plane crash that killed his father and stepmother is in a drug-induced coma as doctors monitor the badly injured 16-year-old's brain swelling, his father's business partner said Sunday.

Austin Hatch suffered brain bruising and swelling and deep facial cuts in Friday's crash that killed his father, Stephen Hatch, and stepmother, Kim, but has shown some hopeful signs at a northern Michigan hospital, said Dr. G. David Bojrab.
  • Related Friday's crash was the second one Austin has survived. A 2003 crash killed his mother and two siblings. His father was piloting both times. Austin, a high school junior from Fort Wayne, Ind., recently accepted a scholarship to attend and play basketball for theUniversity of Michigan after graduation.

Bojrab said Austin's brain swelling was going down and he had been moving all four limbs when doctors reduced the coma-inducing drugs they placed him on after Friday's crash.

"He has bruising to the brain but there's no structural damage as far as they can tell right now, so they're hoping that that's a good sign and he'll have a better recovery or a full recovery," he said.

A spokeswoman for the hospital in Traverse City, Mich., said the teen remained in critical condition Sunday.

A relative, Jason Bowersock of Fort Wayne, said Sunday evening that doctors planned to begin taking Austin off of the coma-inducing drugs on Monday afternoon, while closely monitoring his neurological signs as he regains consciousness.

"Everyone at this point remains very hopeful. All the doctors have been very positive and hopeful given his age and strength. All his other signs are great," he said.

Bowersock, who is married to the eldest of Kim Hatch's three children, Maria, said Stephen Hatch's parents and siblings and other relatives will be staying close to Austin's bedside in the coming days.

While both of Austin's parents, along with his stepmother, are now deceased, he said it's too early for relatives to speculate on the teen's future, including where he will live. But he said that's been on their minds.

"No one has even breathed a word of discussing where Austin will reside. He's a very mature, bright 16-year-old kid and he has a great future ahead of him. And he'll certainly have some thoughts on that, too," Bowersock said. "We've just focused right now on Austin getting well."

Austin's basketball coach at Canterbury School said everyone at the private school in Fort Wayne, which has about 320 students, was stunned by the news of the deadly crash and praying that Austin survives. He said it's "unbelievable" the youngster is now the only survivor of his immediate family, aside from his three step-siblings.

"They're all gone," Kline said. "He's the only one left. What's the chance of that happening? A million to one, if that. It's just unbelievable."

Bojrab, who partnered with Stephen Hatch to open a pain-management clinic in Fort Wayne, said the Hatches were flying to their summer home on Walloon Lake in Michigan's Lower Peninsula when his single-engine plane flew into a garage near the Charlevoix Municipal Airport. It was the same lake home Stephen Hatch and the family were returning from nearly eight years ago when they crashed in Indiana.

Family friends who live on that same Michigan lake have been with Austin since shortly after the crash and his maternal grandparents have been with him since Saturday, Bojrab said. Hatch's paternal grandparents were on vacation in Spain celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with Stephen Hatch's brother and sister and their families, but they arrived back in the U.S. on Sunday, he said.

The National Transportation Safety Board had investigators at the crash site Saturday. NTSB spokesman Keith Holloway said he expected a preliminary report within 10 days and a final report determining a cause within 18 months.

Holloway said Sunday the wreckage was being moved to a hangar at the airport and the lead investigator expected to complete the onsite investigation within a few days. There was no immediate indication of what caused the crash, Holloway said.

Kline said Austin, who is 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, is a very strong physically and he hopes that his being in good condition helps him survive.

"He's just a strong guy, a strong kid. That's what saving him right now," he said.

Crashed plane remains in garage Saturday morning

Yay! So Yeah, I Went to The Dallas Mavericks Parade!

Click On The Title to View Today's Footage!
Grant it! The parade was short but we were just happy to celebrate. Now, like my mom politely told NBC 5 News today that we should have made it downtown at 5 a.m. because it was very hard to get around at 7 a.m. About 10,000 people were able to sit in front of the A.A. The rest of the people were just staggering around anywhere you can find. My experience was pleasant I go to see people I know like, a high fashion jewelry designer I know of from Celebrity Fashion Experience,  Owner-Mark Cuban, City Of Dallas-Dallas Mayor, Oscar Winner Actor-Jamie Foxx, Basketball Players- Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Jason Kidd, and more. Basically, over 300,000 people in attendance. Dallas finest police was great. No arrest. Overall it was a fun experience. Thanks Dallas! Go Mavs! Here's some footage of today's event.

DALLAS MAVERICKS OWNER MARK CUBAN PICKS UP THE PARADE TAB

DALLAS MAVERICKS OWNER MARK CUBAN PICKS UP THE PARADE TAB
ON THE WEEK OF JUNE 20TH DALLAS WILL HAVE A PARADE! This date is tentatively puts us on Thursday of next week. But who knows! According to reports from Dallas News, all we know is that the City Of Dallas, City spokesperson, Frank Librio it will be announced this week. If the city pays for it then it will mess with the city budget. "The parade route could run from City Hall to American Airlines Center, Librio said, but it is still being discussed with the Mavericks."

So, Mark Cuban the generous person that I know personally, decides to pay for the Victory parade out of his own pocket. According to reports, Cuban said: "All I told our president was you plan the parade and I’ll pay for it because I don’t think it’s right that the city has to pay for it and let’s just have some fun."Yes, people a young owner in the franchise business of all leagues combined haven't done what he done ever. Way to be giver, Cuban! The ONE above knows your heart and continue to do great things for you and whatever you put your hands on. Hopefully, other people will follow his lead because he leads by example.

Why? Because the Mavs have showed their worthiness by winning the title 105-95 Game 6 of the NBA Finals, at American Airlines Center, Sunday, June 12, 2011

HEY MAVS! I WASN'T EVEN SURE....
This is what I said on behalf of Mark Cuban,"If I were Mark Cuban I would have the players pay for there breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Equipment !!!! Dirk CANNOT do this alone !!!!! Oh yeah! No limo service because you will be walking to your games .... I'm done. Seriously !!!! No Pressure BUT !!!!!! If you Dallas Mavericks decide to lose AGAIN this year like every year I am soooo going to throw in the towel with yall because I am tired of losing ,I am not a loser, and I live in this town! If this team does not do what they came to do yall need to get a new slate of players especially Dirk! STOP IT a finger injury seriously? People don't spend money for y'all too loose after you."

Mavs
The whole time they were losing with a 15 point deficit and it took people like Dwyane Wade and LeBron James celebrating early in front of their bench to spark the Dallas MAVS to win 95-93 which tied the MAVS with the Heat in the Finals. What a come back!
